An introduction to the relationship between cinema and literature from the Francophone world. It examines the social, political and cultural environment in which the works were created and explore the possible motivations and intentions of the writers and cinematographers chosen. The importance of storytelling, character development and aesthetic techniques of both genres will be emphasized as the varied forms of representation and the ways in which they intersect are studied.

Third year standing in French* or permission of the Chair of the Department.
* For admission to 3rd and 4th year level courses, students must have completed French 2201 and the equivalent of one other French course at the 2nd year level required in the French program, with a minimum mark of 60% in French 2201 and a minimum overall average of 60% in the French courses.
