Geology 2217 Mineralogy with Laboratory
An introduction to mineral sciences, which includes appearance, structure, physical properties and occurrence of minerals, their application in material-science based industries and their significance in rocks, mineral deposits and environmental systems. Different mineralogical techniques such as macroscopic identification techniques, optical microscopy and X-ray powder diffraction will be also discussed. Laboratory work will treat the application of these techniques to minerals.
