Honours BA, BEd (English and French Major) I/S(TB)

Six Year program
An overall 70% average must be maintained in English and French throughout the program with a minimum requirement of 70% in French 1200 or French 1204 and in French 2201.

Prior to Entry into the 2-Year Professional Program
In concurrent Education programs at the Intermediate/Senior level, students must meet and complete requirements of the partnering Honours degree program including all Pre-Professional Program Education requirements. (See Concurrent Degree Programs Information for Education requirements)

Note:
Students' two teachable subjects are English and French. See Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Levels and Teachables.

The student's selection of French courses requires the consent of the Chair of the Department of Languages.

First Year:
(a) English 1115 and one additional half-course in English at the first-year level
(b) French 1200 or 1204
(c) French 1510 and 1511
(d) One FCE from Type B courses
(e) One half-course elective
(f) Education 1050

Second Year:
(a) English 2250, 2251 and 2913
(b) One additional half-course in English at the second year level
(c) French 2201
(d) One additional FCE in French at the second year level
(e) One half-course elective
(f) Education 2050

Third Year:
(a) Two FCEs in English at the third-year level
(b) French 3650
(c) Two additional FCEs in French at the third or fourth-year level
(d) One half-course elective in Education (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for Pre-Professional Program course offerings.

Fourth Year:
(a) One FCE in English at the fourth year level
(b) One FCE in English at the third or fourth-year level
(c) Two FCEs in French at the third or fourth-year level
(d) One FCE elective

Note: Students who are contemplating graduate work in English are strongly encouraged to take English 4914 and/or English 4916.

Note: Students must take at least 0.5 FCE chosen from Type E English courses at any year level. The Indigenous Content Requirement is being met by the inclusion of 0.5 FCE chosen from Type E English courses and French 3650.
