ANY MAJOR

The Carlotta and Vittorio Del Bianco Memorial Scholarship
$500 (CVDSI)
Awarded to a deserving student in any faculty currently enrolled in an Italian Studies course. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The Hayes Family Arts and Science Scholarship (Orillia Campus)
$500 (O2-LJHSI)
Created by Drs. Laurie Schultz Hayes and James Todd Hayes for full-time students in the third or fourth year of the HBASc (Interdisciplinary Studies Major) at the Orillia Campus who have achieved an 80+ average. Financial need may also be a consideration. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and must have resided in Ontario for 12 consecutive months prior to receiving this award. Dr. Laurie Schultz Hayes was Lakehead University's Vice-President (Academic) and Provost when the Orillia campus was proposed and opened. She designed and championed the HBASc as an interdisciplinary major from the start. The Drs. Hayes and their children believe in the value of studying the arts and sciences together and want to support students who share their interdisciplinary commitment. Peggy Tripp Memorial Women's Studies Student Award
$650 (PTWAI)
Awarded to a third or fourth year student with a minimum B average who displays exemplary community involvement in areas of women's issues, social justice and/or environmental issues. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.


ENGLISH

Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllan Munro Family Memorial Prize - Poetry
$100 (MMPOI)
Poets among Lakehead University students are encouraged to submit their unpublished poems to the Department of English. The submissions will be judged by three members of the Department of English whose decisions will be final. Mr. and Mrs. James MacAllan Munro Family Memorial Prize - Prose
$100 (MMPRI)
To be awarded annually to a student at Lakehead University on the basis of competition. Entries may be either fiction or non-fiction. All submissions will be judged by three members of the Department of English whose decision will be final. Laureen and Biff Weiler Memorial Award
"Not Available" (LBWSI)
Established in 1987 by the family of Laureen and Biff Weiler in their memory. Awarded to a student entering his/her second or third year, preferably adult (as defined in Calendar), in the Bachelor of Arts (English) degree program on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Elisabeth Stella Wydra Memorial Scholarship
$100 (ESWMI)
Established by Mrs. Wydra in her daughter's memory. To be awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student, preferably of Polish descent, majoring in English, on the recommendation of the English Department's Scholarship/Awards Committee. Millie Barrett Memorial Award
$600 (MBMAI)
Created by family and friends in 1992 in memory of Millie Barrett who was an instrumental force in the social, cultural and political fabric of Northwestern Ontario. (Information is available at the Chancellor Paterson Library, North Studies Resource Centre, regarding Ms Barrett's contribution to the Region). Awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate in-course student pursuing studies in the political, historical or social-cultural disciplines. The successful recipient will submit a written summary outlining her/his political and/or community involvement in Northwestern Ontario. Preference will be given to female or aboriginal students. Lakehead University History Award
$100 (HISAI)
Awarded to a second, third or fourth year student majoring in History, upon the recommendation of the Department of History, who shows promise in the discipline. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The Tom Miller Scholarship in History
$700 (TMSHI)
Created in honour of Dr. Thomas Breech Miller by family and friends in celebration of his many contributions over many years to Lakehead University, especially as the founding Chair of the Department of History, and to the community of Thunder Bay. Awarded to a student entering the fourth year of the Honours History program on the basis of academic performance, community involvement and demonstrated interest in future graduate studies in history. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of History. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

"A Vast and Magnificent Land" Undergraduate Scholarship
$100 (AVMLI)
Awarded on the recommendation of the History Department to a student entering the third or fourth year Honours History program at Lakehead University, who shows promise in the profession. All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply; preference will be given to the applicants from Northwestern Ontario. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Awarded on the basis of outstanding performance by a student in the Honours Bachelor of Music program. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Music. Financial need will also be considered. Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism Scholarship

Awarded to a student in the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism, on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Tanya Rintoul Memorial Award
$500 (A-TRAAI)
Created in 1997 by family and friends in loving memory of Tanya Rintoul. Awarded to a student on the basis of academic standing and a strong potential in the Outdoor Recreation field. The student must demonstrate active involvement with environmental issues. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism. Luka Stefureak-Coppola Memorial Award
$500 (A-LSCAI)
Established in 2012 in memory of Luka Mateo Stefureak-Coppola who was born and died tragically on December 22, 2011. Words at his funeral spoke of dreams never to be realized and a life that had no opportunity to make a difference. This award hopefully will assist students to achieve goals that Luka could not. Awarded to a student entering their third year of a program in Business or Political Science with a average of 75% or more.
