KINESIOLOGY

The Baziuk Family Sports Medicine Undergraduate Award
$200 (BFSMI)
Awarded to a third or fourth year student who is enrolled in the Honours Kinesiology degree program. The student must have a minimum 'B' standing and have contributed to sports medicine and/or Kinesiology at Lakehead University. Financial need may also be considered. Dr. John L. Remus Kinesiology Award
$100 (DJLRI)
Awarded on the recommendation of the Sport Medicine Committee to a student entering the fourth year Kinesiology program at Lakehead University who demonstrates good academic standing. Community involvement and special needs may be considered. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.


NURSING

Doris Baziuk and Sylvia Anne Benser Nursing Award
$100 (DBSAI)
Awarded on the recommendation of the School of Nursing to a third or fourth year student who completed second or third year, respectively, with at least 75% and who has displayed leadership qualities and community involvement. Financial need may also be considered. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Tracy Buckler Scholarship in Nursing
$400 (O3-TBNSI)
Created by Tracy Buckler, 2006 Lakehead University Alumni Honour Award recipient. Awarded on the recommendation of the School of Nursing to an in-course Nursing student on the basis of academic achievement. Financial need will also be considered. Frances Cowan (nee Forester) Memorial Award
$1,100 (O2-FCMAI)
Created in 2005 by her nephew, Edward Williams, in loving memory of Frances Cowan (nee Forester) in recognition of her career as a nurse and to celebrate her passion for the nursing profession. Awarded to an in-course nursing student with high academic standing who demonstrates exceptional dedication to patients. Financial need will also be considered. The recipient will be determined on the recommendation of the School of Nursing. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The Lucy Migliazza Memorial Nursing Award
$100 (LMMNI)
Established in July 1987 in memory of Lucy Migliazza by her classmates, friends and family. To be awarded by nomination to a student entering the 3rd or 4th year of the Nursing Program, on the basis of community service and participation in student affairs. Financial need may be a consideration. The recipient will be determined on the recommendation of the School of Nursing Scholarship/Awards Committee. Pat Moulson Memorial Award in Nursing
$300 (O-PMNAI)
Created by Dr. Robert A. L. Moulson in loving memory of his wife Pat. Awarded to an in-course student in the School of Nursing, with a demonstrated interest in the elderly. Based on faculty recommendation. Financial need will also be considered. The recipient will be a resident of the Province of Ontario. Northwestern Ontario Occupational Health Nurses' Association of Thunder Bay Scholarship
$500 (A-OHNSI)
Awarded to a high ranking nursing student with financial need who has displayed an interest in occupational health. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Tom Osipenko Memorial Nursing Scholarship
$200 (OTMSI)
Established in 1991 by the family, colleagues and friends of Tom Osipenko. Awarded to a student who is a long-time resident of the City of Thunder Bay and who is a third year nursing student intending to register in the fourth year of the Nursing Degree program. Awarded to an in-course student who is a long-time resident of the City of Thunder Bay and intends to register in the fourth year of the Nursing Degree program. Awarded on the basis of high academic standing and demonstrated leadership and concern for others. Preference will be given to a student interested in gerontology. Financial need may be considered. Ann Ross Memorial Award in Nursing
$500 (ARMAI)
Established in memory of Anne Ross by her family, friends and colleagues. Anne was an alumnae of Lakehead University and recipient of the Dean Braun Medal. She filled a variety of roles throughout her nursing career and felt very passionate about the field. A lifelong learner, Anne completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree as a mature student and believed that everyone should have an opportunity for an education. To be awarded to a full-time student in the Nursing Program on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Preference will be given to a mature student. William and Dorothy Hyndman Award in Nursing
10 x $2,000 (A-WHNAI)
Established in 2013, the William and Dorothy Hyndman Award in Nursing. Awarded to a fourth year Nursing student to assist with travel costs associated with International Clinical Placement. The student must have attained an overall B+ standing in their previous year.  The recipient must also be a Canadian citizen and born in Canada. Preference will be given to students who have graduated from a high school in Northwestern Ontario. Financial need will also be considered. Annie Werbicka Childs Nursing Award
2 x $1250 (A-WCNAI)
Awarded on the basis of financial need to students enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Compressed Program) or the Collaborative Nursing Program with a B standing. Preference will be given to the students who demonstrate compassion and caring in nursing practice. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.


PSYCHOLOGY

Annie May Chapple Scholarship
$300 (AMCSI)
Awarded to a full-time high ranking student with financial need enrolled in Psychology. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.


SOCIAL WORK

The Vince Bogdan Memorial Scholarship
$150 (VBMSI)
Established in 1993 in memory of Vince Bogdan by his family and friends as well as students and colleagues at Lakehead University. Awarded to a high ranking third or fourth year Social Work student with financial need. Preference shall be given to a single parent.
