William Baziuk Sr. and Maurice William Baziuk Education Award
$100 (WBMBI)
Awarded on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education to a student in either the consecutive or concurrent Bachelor of Education Degree program who had at least 75% average in the previous year and who has displayed leadership qualities and community involvement. Financial need may also be considered. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The Joan Gothard Memorial Award in Education
$250 (JGMAI)
Created through an estate gift of Joan Gothard, MEd '82, long-time educator and Lakehead graduate, who passed away in October 1999. Awarded to a high-ranking student in the Faculty of Education, who displays exemplary classroom skills and who indicates an interest in education and administration. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

New Sun Eric Harvie Memorial Aboriginal Award (Orillia Campus)
$400 (NSMAI)
Awarded to a Canadian Aboriginal student entering the second year of a degree program at the Orillia campus, preferably education the a demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who has demonstrated leadership through voluntary community involvement and/or University activities. Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation Award
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) will annually award $1,000, to the graduating Intermediate/Senior or Technological Studies Teacher Candidate who in the opinion of the Lakehead University Faculty of Education Awards Committee has shown a clear understanding and empathy for the values of unionism and is attempting to secure a job with a public secondary school board. An OSSTF/FEESO Faculty of Education Award Application Form is required.

Parslow-Mercer Scholarship in Primary Education
5 x $900 (O2-PMESI)
Created through the Estate of Elizabeth Mercer, retired teacher. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to a student in the Faculty of Education, Primary/Junior stream. Financial need will also be considered. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The Mabel Pizzey Welsh Award
$100 (MPWAI)
Established by Bob Welsh to honour the memory of his mother, Mabel Pizzey Welsh. Preference shall be given to a student holding an Early Childhood Education Diploma and entering the final year of the Bachelor of Education Concurrent Program. The student must demonstrate an exceptional ability to work with primary/junior children. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Helen Kathleen Prodanyk Memorial Scholarship
$200 (HPMSI)
The Helen Kathleen Prodanyk Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 by family and friends in her memory. She was the former Coordinator of the Field Experiences Office, Faculty of Education, Lakehead University. This award shall be given to a full-time student entering the final year of the Concurrent Bachelor of Education program or in the Consecutive Bachelor of Education program. The successful candidate will be in the Primary-Junior Division and will have demonstrated an ability to work with children/youth. Financial need may be considered. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Faculty of Education. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Linda Strey Memorial Education Scholarship
$1,000 (A-LSMSI)
Awarded to a full-time student registered in the Professional year of the Bachelor of Education program (includes one-year BEd students and students in the final year of the concurrent program) who achieved an 80% in the last year of full-time studies. The student must have graduated from a high school in Northwestern Ontario and have demonstrated volunteerism in the community. A letter of recommendation is required from the Associate Teacher (supervising teacher) from the fall term, that recognized the applicant has having demonstrated extraordinary passion for Education and exceptional engagement with students and the learning process.Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.
