In-Course-Faculty of Business Administration-By Application

The following 2013-2014 Endowed and Non-Endowed Donor In-Course Scholarship and Award Funds for the Faculty of Business Administration by application are available. Note: Instead of dollar amount, "Not Available", indicates that donor funds are unavailable for this year.

BDO Accounting and Community Service Scholarship
$1,300 (O2-BDOSI)
Awarded to a student with financial need enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree program who intends to pursue a Chartered Accountant designation. The successful candidate must have an 80% average, demonstrate community involvement and be a resident of Ontario. Application available on the Office of Student Financial Aid and Awards website.

The Victor F. Belluz Memorial Award

$350 (BFVMI)
Established in 1991 in memory of Victor Francis Belluz by his family, friends, colleagues and fellow alumni of the Faculty of Business Administration. Awarded annually on the basis of scholastic ability to a student in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree program and who has expressed an interest in the accounting major. Preference will be given to a student from Northwestern Ontario and this shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Faculty of Business Administration by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarship and Bursary Committee. Walter and Donna Brown Scholarship in Business
$800 (02-WDBSI)
Created by Lynn Brown MacGowan and Lee Brown in honour of their parents, Walter and Donna Brown, owners of Walter Brown Jewellers, a prominent business in Thunder Bay for 28 years. Provided on the basis of academic achievement to a student in the Faculty of Business Administration. Financial need will also be considered. The recipient will be a resident of Ontario. Enterprise Rent-A-Car Award in Business
$1,000 (A-ERCAI)
Awarded to a third year student enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Admnistration program who has demonstrated volunteer activity in the last year. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Freedom 55 Financial Award (3rd Year)
$500 (FF3AI)
Awarded to 3rd-year Faculty of Business Administration students. The recipient will be a well-rounded student who shows a commitment to learning and demonstrated leadership through community involvement or student affairs. The recipient will also have good academic standing. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Freedom 55 Financial Award (4th Year)
$500 (FF4AI)
Awarded to fourth-year Faculty of Business Administration students. The recipient will be a well-rounded student who shows a commitment to learning and demonstrated leadership through community involvement or student affairs. The recipient will also have good academic standing. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Hanley Award
$200 (HBMAI)
Established in 1990 by colleagues, alumni and family in memory of "Bill" Hanley, a faculty member for twenty years in the Faculty of Business Administration. Awarded to a "well rounded" business student entering the final year of his/her program who demonstrates academic improvement, and has participated in university and community affairs. Awarded on the recommendation of the Scholarship/Award Committee of the Faculty of Business Administration. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Brian Holm Memorial Scholarship
$400 (02-BHMSI)
Awarded to a student enrolled in the Faculty of Business Administration or the Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies who has a minimum 80% average, demonstrated community involvement and financial need. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The B. H. Lacey Memorial Award
$300 (BHLMI)
Established in 1985 in memory of Associate Professor, B. Harry Lacey, by his family, friends, and colleagues. This award recognizes academic standing and involvement in university or community activities. The B. H. Lacey Memorial Award will be granted upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Business Administration to a student registered in the second year of a Business Degree Program. Michael and Elly Pawlowski Scholarship in Business
$600 (02-MEPSI)
Awarded to a deserving student in the Faculty of Business Administration on the basis of academic achievement. Financial need will also be considered. The selection will be based on a recommendation from the Faculty of Business Administration to a student registered through the Thunder Bay campus. President's Golf Tournament Business Award (Orillia Campus)
$5,000 (03-PGTAI)
Awarded to a fourth year student enrolled full-time in a business program at Lakehead Orillia Campus in good academic standing, who has a demonstrated financial need and resides in Simcoe County. Preference will be given to a student who has been out of high school two years or more prior to enrollment in their current program. Preference will also be given to a student who has demonstrated leadership in the community as evidenced through such things as community service. RBC Capital Markets Finance Award
$900 (02-RBCAI)
Provided to an academically-strong student entering fourth year, Faculty of Business Administration, with a demonstrated interest in financial markets. The recipient will show leadership qualities through extra-curricular involvement. Financial need will also be considered. The selection will be based on a recommendation from the Faculty of Business Administration. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

Luka Stefureak-Coppola Memorial Award
$500 (A-LSCAI)
Established in 2012 in memory of Luka Mateo Stefureak-Coppola who was born and died tragically on December 22, 2011. Words at his funeral spoke of dreams never to be realized and a life that had no opportunity to make a difference. This award hopefully will assist students to achieve goals that Luka could not. Awarded to a student entering their third year of a program in Business or Political Science with a average of 75% or more. Financial need may be a consideration but not a requirement. TBayTel Award
$1,000 (A-TBTAI)
Awarded to a student enrolled in a computer science, business or engineering program. Preference will be given to a student who identifies that their parent is a current or retired TBayTel employee. Awarded on the basis of academic standing and community involvement. Financial need will also be considered. Application available on the Student Awards and Financial Aid website.

The Grant H. Thompson Memorial Award
$850 (GTMBI)
Established in 1985 in memory of Grant Hamilton Thompson, F.C.A., by his family and many friends. This award recognizes Mr. Thompson's many years of devoted service to Lakehead University and his profession. The Grant H. Thompson Memorial Award recognizes academic achievement, citizenship, and financial need. It will be awarded annually in perpetuity on the recommendation of the Scholarship/Awards Committee of the Faculty of Business Administration to students specializing in accounting, entering his/her final year, intending to pursue the designation of Chartered Accountant. Grant Thornton Award in Business
$300 (PMTAI)
Awarded to a student entering his/her final year in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce or the Bachelor of Administration programs at Lakehead University, and who is has been a full-time student for two preceding years of study. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and a demonstrated interest in pursuing the designation of Chartered Accountant. Financial need may be considered. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Faculty of Business Administration.
