In-Course: All Faculties; No Application

The following 2013-2014 Endowed and Non-Endowed Donor In-Course Scholarship and Award Funds are available to all faculties with no application. Note: Instead of dollar amount, "Not Available", indicates that donor funds are unavailable for this year.

 

Robert C. Addison Scholarship
$200 (RCASI)
Awarded to a student in a degree program who achieves high academic standing.

Daniel Beardy Memorial Award
$1,500 (A-DBMAI)
As a child, Daniel learned to play hockey on a frozen lake with snow banks for boards. His talent and passion elevated him to be named both the top goaltender in the Superior Junior Hockey League and top 2nd goaltender in the National Canadian Junior "A" hockey league for the 2003-04 season. Daniel Beardy was a dedicated individual whose desire for excellence and willingness to work hard inspired those who knew him. Awarded to an undergraduate student with a minimum average of 70%.

Jennifer Domansky Memorial Scholarship
$450 (JDMSI)
Created by family and friends, in loving memory of Jennifer Domansky, who tragically passed away in 2003. Awarded to an in-course student in any program, participating in varsity athletics and maintaining a minimum 80% average. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Athletics.

Diana Kertland Memorial Award
2 x $450 (DKMAI)
Established in perpetuity, in memory of former Chief Librarian of Lakehead University. Awarded annually to students who has taken or is taking Library and Information Studies courses.

Lakehead University Athletic Awards
Number of awards and value vary.
Established in 2001-2002, to recognize full-time in-course varsity athletes at Lakehead University. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated excellence in a varsity sport and commitment to the team. Recipients must have achieved a 70% average in the previous academic year as a full-time student-athlete at Lakehead University. Recipients must meet the CIS and OUA eligibility criteria. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Athletics. In-course - refers to students who have completed one or more years of study at Lakehead University.

The Legrow Scholarships
(2 x $650, LGLMI/ 2 x $500, LGGMI)
Established in perpetuity by the estate of Gloria M. and Lewis N. Legrow. Awarded to high ranking full-time students from different faculties who have completed one or more years at Lakehead University.

Henry Lianga Memorial Award
$100 (HLMAI)
Established in 1984 in memory of Henry Lianga, a student athlete who participated in wrestling at Lakehead University. Presented annually to a 3rd or 4th year student on the basis of a minimum 'B' standing and outstanding athletic ability and leadership at Lakehead University. Preference will be given to student athletes who participate in wrestling. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Athletics.

Logozzo Award
$150 (LOAWI)
Established in 1984 in memory of Mr. Samuel Logozzo, this award will be presented annually to a student from Northwestern Ontario registered in the 3rd or 4th year of any program. The award recognizes academic achievement (a minimum of 'B' standing) as well as excellence and leadership in varsity athletics. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Athletics.

Dr. Crawford C. McCullough Memorial Scholarship
$400 (DCMMI)
Awarded to a student who in the prior year successfully completed the first year of a university program, and who intends to proceed to a degree in the Social Sciences and Humanities or Science with the intention of pursuing a career in nursing or medicine.

Dr. John E. McCutcheon Memorial Scholarship
$200 (DJMSI)
Created by Muriel McCutcheon, in loving memory of her husband. Awarded to an in-course student with high academic standing, in any field of study.

Tim Ryan Memorial Scholarship
$100 (TRMSI)
Established in perpetuity, in memory of Dean Tim Ryan, by his many friends. Awarded to a high ranking student in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities entering the fourth year of his/her program. The scholarship is to be rotated among the Departments.

The Heather Saaltink Memorial Award
$2,000 (A-HSMAI)
Awarded to a 4th year student athlete, who is active at the Varsity or club level and demonstrates a commitment to environment protection and social justice, inspiring others to make a difference. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Athletics.

Jiri Smrz Prize (Orillia Campus)
Plaque (A-JSPRI)
Established in memory of Jiri Smrz by colleagues and friends at the Orillia Campus. A plaque will be awarded to the Orillia Campus student, full or part-time, with the highest mark in History 1100. Awarded on the recommendation of the Professor teaching the course.

Peter McKellar Spence Memorial Scholarship
"Not Available" (A-PMSMI)
Awarded to a student who achieves high academic standing. Those going on in Science, particularly Medicine or Nursing, will be given preference.

Student Services Scholarship
$250 (SSCSI)
Awarded to an in-course student, in any program, on the basis of academic achievement.

Thunder Bay Public Library Award
$500 (A-TBPLI)
Awarded on the basis of academic performance to an in-course student who is enrolled in a Library and Information Studies course.

John Zanatta Memorial Awards
2 x $500 (JZMAI)
Established in 1990 in memory of John Zanatta, a student-athlete and former basketball coach at Lakehead University. Awarded to a second, third or fourth year student on the basis of a minimum of 'B' standing and outstanding athletic ability. Student must also portray leadership qualities within the University setting. Preference will be given to a student-athlete participating in basketball. Financial need may be considered. Awarded by the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries Committee on the recommendation of the Department of Athletics.
