BA, BEd (Visual Arts Major) J/I

Four Year program
A cumulative average of 65% in all courses is required. See Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Academic Regulation #2, regarding the average in the major.

Students must choose a teachable subject. See Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education, Levels and Teachables.

First Year:
(a) Visual Arts 1090, 10911150, 1170
(b) Visual Arts 1110 and 1130
(c) Two of: Visual Arts 1010, 1030, 1050, 1070
(d) A minimum of one FCE in English, with at least one of the literature courses (English 1111 or 1112). For English Majors both English 1111 and English 1112 are required.

Second Year:
(a) Visual Arts 2220
(b) A second year studio course (one FCE), based on selection made in First Year (c) above; i.e. Visual Arts 2021 or 2041 or 2101 or 2121 or 2143
(c) A second studio course (one FCE) or the pair of studio courses not selected in First Year (c)
(d) One FCE elective in Science (General Science 1000 recommended) (see Concurrent Bachelor of Education, Concurrent Content Regulations #1, regarding eligible Science courses)
(e) Education 1499 and 2399 (0.5 FCE x 2 = 1 FCE)

Third Year:
(a) One studio course (FCE) in Visual Arts at second or third year level, depending on previous choices, or Visual Arts 3821 or 4203
(b) Two FCE electives from Group II (see Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Regulations, First Year Arts Program Grouping Requirements)
(c) One second year studio course based on courses not taken in First Year (c), or Second Year (c), or Visual Arts 3021
(d) Education 2011 (0.5 FCE)
(e) Two Education electives (see Electives in the Department of Undergraduate Studies in Education Courses list)* (.25 FCE x 2 = 0.5 FCE)
*Education 3239 may be taken for credit more than once if the topics are different.
Note: Concurrent Education students should check the timetable for non-Professional Year course offerings.

Fourth Year (Professional Year):
(a) Core:
(i) Education 4417, 4418
and 4490 (.25 FCE x 2 + 0.5 FCE x 1 = 1 FCE)
(ii) Education 4412, 4413, 4416 (.25 FCE x 3 = .75 FCE)
(b) Curriculum and Instruction in Junior-Intermediate Education:
(i) Education 4112 and 4151 (0.5 FCE x 2 = 1 FCE) and Education 0451 (mandatory non-credit courses)
(ii) Education 4113, 4114, 4115, 4116, 4117, 4118, 4119 (.25 FCE x 7 = 1.75 FCEs)
(iii) One Curriculum and Instruction course (.25 FCE)
in teaching field selected from: Education 4212, 4216, 4215, 4231, 4214, 4217, 4218, 4232, 4233, 4234, 4235, 4239
